Mayan hammocks are actually fabric hammocks. The Mayans invented hammocks hundreds of years ago. They used them to get off the ground. This kept them safe from predators and sleep more comfortably.
The hammocks did not have spreader bars. They were made of natural fabric (hides and such) and rope.
