Hammocks can be made of rope or fabric. Here we will cover how to make a hammock out of rope. Items Needed You will need some non slip rope or twine, two round steel rings (2-3 inches in diameter), 2 spreader bars (3 feet wide), and a shuttle. A shuttle is similar to a sewing needle. It is used for making larger netting. You will also need to know how to tie a square know and a double half hitch. Process Attach one spreader bar to a stationary device or wall. Then pull the rope tight and wind it up on a stick or dowel. You will have 50 or more strands of rope attached to the spreader bar. Then, wind up all 50 ropes tightly onto a short dowel to prevent tangles. Proceed by tying square knots in the rope. You should be making netting squares out of the rope. It will take some trial and error to figure out. It is hard to describe. At the end, you will finish strands with a double half hitch and a square knot.
