Lumber

You need three boards to make the bottom portion of the stand; two horizontal and one vertical.  The long board will be as long as the hammock is.  The shorter boards will be used to steady the longer board.  You can notch the boards together with a jigsaw and glue or you can bolt or screw them together.

You will also need two boards going up at a 45 degree angle.  These boards will hook into the base.  You can screw or bolt them on or notch and glue them.  Fence posts may be a good lumber choice for this task.

The best hammocks stands look rich.  We don’t recommend buying just regular lumber.  Get some good quality cedar or redwood that is larger in size than usual.  This will go a long way in making the stand look original and well made.  To make the wood grain come out, use some natural wood stain.
